Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias visited the Peoria Driver Services facility today to meet with facility staff and solicit their ideas and suggestions on improving services to constituents. Secretary Giannoulias also highlighted the importance of modernization efforts that will be designed to transform operations, empower employees, and improve customer services.

Secretary Giannoulias underscored the importance of visiting Driver Services facilities around the state, especially high customer volume facilities like Peoria.

“The employees in the Peoria Driver Services facility do a great job, and I thank them for their efforts,” said Secretary Giannoulias. “They are public servants who want to provide Illinoisans with the best customer service possible. My administration is committed to giving them the tools to better serve Peoria-area residents by aggressively modernizing the office, infusing it with new technology and expanding online services.”

Secretary Giannoulias noted that the role of the Secretary of State’s office is rooted in customer service, and that new technology will help upgrade the services available to constituents. This includes the implementation of his Skip the Line initiative that will further streamline the customer’s ability to schedule an appointment at ilsos.gov for certain transactions, like obtaining a REAL ID, renewing a standard driver’s license/ID card or performing a behind-the-wheel driving exam. Upon arriving at the facility at the designated appointment time, the customer will receive immediate service.

“I want to make Driver Services facilities among the most customer-centric and accessible in the country,” said Secretary Giannoulias. “We have a plan to make this happen.”
