State Senator Ram Villivalam, State Representative Barbara Hernandez and Kane County Board Chair Corinne Pierog today threw their support to Alexi Giannoulias in the 2022 race for Illinois Secretary of State.
The three lawmakers joined several other office holders from Aurora and Kane County who are among a growing list of more than 100 supporters endorsing Giannoulias in the June primary.
“Alexi Giannoulias has a proven track record as a progressive reformer,” said Villivalam (D-8), whose district includes the Northwest Side of Chicago and parts of Lincolnwood, Skokie and Morton Grove. “As Secretary of State, he will help modernize the office, protect the rights of voters, and work to build the trust between the government and the people. I am proud to join Congressman “Chuy” García and much of organized labor in standing with Alexi and his candidacy.
“As Alexi, I am the child of immigrants who came to the United States seeking the American Dream,” said Hernandez (D-83), whose district includes the cities of Aurora and North Aurora. “He knows the challenges faced by our community and as Secretary of State, he is committed to working to bring more of the services we need to Aurora.”
In addition to Villivalam,Hernandez and Pierog, Giannoulias also received endorsements today from Kane County Circuit Clerk Theresa Barreiro, Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain, Kane County Board Members Myrna Molina and Monica Silva, former Kane County Board Members Donald Ishmael and Brian Pollock, Aurora Township Trustee Samuel Núñez, Aurora Alderman Emmanuel Llamas and East Aurora School Board Member Alex Arroyo.
