Democrat Giannoulias Ends Fundraising Quarter with Approximately $3.5 Million on Hand
Secretary of State Campaign Amasses Broad-Based Coalition of Support
With eight months before the primary election, Democrat candidate for Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias finished the recent fundraising quarter with nearly $3.5 million in his campaign fund.
Giannoulias, the former Illinois State Treasurer, reported raising more than $610,000 during the third quarter that ended September 30, increasing the current total in his campaign fund to $3.45 million.
“I’m honored and grateful for this strong support that shows the importance of the Secretary of State’s office and its role in delivering quality service and cutting-edge programs to Illinois families,” Giannoulias said. “Together, we are building a broad-based, grassroots campaign across the entire State. We will continue to represent all of Illinois, remain laser focused on real issues that matter to Illinoisans, and work hard to earn every vote.”
Along with fundraising success, Giannoulas’ campaign has earned endorsements from more than 100 elected officials, labor groups and political organizations from a wide variety of progressive and moderate Democrats across the State.
Giannoulias’ campaign has focused on modernizing services, including introducing digital driver’s licenses, offering more remote and online services and reducing wait times at Secretary of State facilities with his “Skip the Line” program.
Giannoulias’ campaign is also the only one that has been addressing issues of statewide concern, including: protecting voter rights and making it easier to register and vote; strengthening ethics reforms among government officials and lobbyists; increasing opportunities for women and minority business owners establish and grow their businesses; improving the State’s library system to provide more equity and access; and reducing recidivism by easing the transition for ex-offenders to successfully reintegrate into society.
